So many folders! From left to right: FaceTime, Launchpad, Messages, Safari, and Time Machine.
Now, I have been asked to post a brief summary of how I make these so...
1) I have a template I created for it in Photoshop (CC 2014): The bottom layer being the generic folder, the middle being for the icon itself, and the top being a mask to make the icon that darker blue.
2) Before I start (I can't just throw in and icon and expect it to work) I first have to edit the icon.I first select the section that I don't want, and delete it. As you can tell, that isn't quite enough, so i touch it up a bit with the eraser. After that, I select the entire thing and make it black, so that it works with the mask (I have no idea why, actually, but that's apparently how it works).
3) Drag the image onto my template, adjust size and position, and Volià!
